A Step by Step Guide to Make a Public Profile on Snapchat (with Troubleshooting)
I remember when I first joined Snapchat, I was sharing snaps and keeping streaks only with my close friends, while missing out on a lot of other connections.
I noticed that some creators and influencers had Public Profiles, and a few also use Snapchat Plus to unlock extra features like advanced Spotlight access and profile customization. That’s when I decided to create a snapchat public profile for myslef.
By setting up a Public Profile on Snapchat, I was able to share stories and Spotlight videos beyond my friends list while keeping my private chats just for friends.
Now I will share my experince and will guide you step by step how to make a Public Profile on Snapchat and also cover what to do if the option doesn’t appear, so you can get started without any hassle.
What Exactly Is a Public Profile on Snapchat?
A Snapchat Public Profile is your way to share content with everyone, not just your friends. Think of it as a public stage for your snaps, where creators, influencers, and active users can discover you in search, Spotlight, and other areas of Snapchat.
Unlike your personal Snapchat profile, which is all about private chats and sharing with friends, a Public Profile focuses on visibility, reach, and showcasing your content.
How a Public Profile Works Compared to a Personal Snapchat Profile
A Snapchat Public Profile works alongside a personal Snapchat profile, but each serves a different purpose.
| Feature | Personal Snapchat Profile | Public Profile on Snapchat |
| Primary audience | Friends only | Anyone on Snapchat |
| Visibility | Limited to contacts | Publicly discoverable |
| Discovery | Not searchable | Appears in search and discovery |
| Content reach | Private Stories | Public Stories and Spotlight |
| Audience type | Friends | Followers (subscribers) |

What Happens If the Public Profile Option Is Missing on Snapchat?
Snapchat controls access to Public Profiles based on account status, eligibility, and platform availability. If the Public Profile option does not appear, it usually means one or more requirements are not met.
Common Reasons the Public Profile Option Does Not Appear
Snapchat may hide the Public Profile option when the account does not meet baseline requirements or when the feature is not fully enabled. Typical reasons:
- The account is newly created
- Limited activity history
- Profile lacks trust signals
- Feature not yet activated on the account
- Outdated Snapchat app
- Unsupported Android or iOS device
- Feature unavailable in certain regions
- Gradual rollout or testing phases
Snapchat gradually unlocks Public Profiles to prevent spam and low-quality content. Accounts with consistent activity are more likely to see the option appear.
