Google Releases SynthID Text for Watermarking and Probing AI-Generated Content

Google launches SynthID Text, a tool for watermarking and detecting AI-generated content, available on Hugging Face and Google’s toolkit.

Google claims to make SnthID Text, a technology that identifies the texts written and generated by AI.

The company expressed in a blog post that the watermarks which are considered as adjusted probability scores owe the final pattern of scores on both model word choices. These scores are compared as watermarked and unwatermarked. It would help SynthID to probe whether the text has been generated by the AI or some other source.

SynthID text integrated with Gemini models does not compromise over quality, speed, accuracy or text generation. It also works on the text modified, cropped or paraphrased through rewriting the pre-written text.

This sort of work on AI text watermarking has not only been produced by Google only but OpenAI owes a four years research methods on watermarking and contemplated its launch owing to some financial and technical issues.

A legal mechanism is to be developed for developers. Watermarking of AI generate text has been introduced by China while the State of California is doing the same thing.

This situation has produced an urgency. The European Union Law Enforcement Agency has claimed that 90% of the content produced up to 2026, that would be synthetically produced through these artificial means. Almost 60 % of all the sentences are structured on AI generated web as per AWS study thanking vast utilization of AI translators.
