After selling Anchor to Spotify, co-founders build AI educational startup Oboe, aiming to democratize learning using AI-powered audio and video interfaces.
Zicherman and Michael Mignano, the co-founders have sold a startup to Spotify and started working on a new project which is Oboe, an AI-powered educational startup aimed to access to learning ways and enabling anyone to produce a podcast now. This project is backed by seed investment of $4 million .
This newly created startup, Oboe aims to produce an interface which is user friendly and helps people complete their tasks enhancing their knowledge through a combo of audio, video and AI technology.
Zicherman left Spotify in October 2023 and geared up his energies to launch a new start up which he did with the name of Anchor. He took all the inspiration from his working experiences at Spotify where he had spent some years working on building audiobooks business and its scaling to different markets.
He noted that the idea of enabling a lot of people to get access to quality content, including educational in nature inspired him to produce audiobooks.
Oboe takes the path on that mission but not through audiobooks.
As AI is getting notorious for its poor information, Oboe will concentrate on producing high quality and scalable content.
Oboe is New York based and not ready to share more product details for its privacy purpose, but it has started raising its funds from investors including its previous partners. Mignano will be part of the project as a full-time partner and will be on the Board of this company as CEO.
Four million dollars of seed investment for Oboe was led by VC firm leading Anchor’s seed, Eniac Ventures. This seed investment includes investment from Factorial Capital, Haystack, Homebrew, Scott Belsky, Kayvon Beykpour, Tim Ferriss, Offline Ventures, Nikita Bier, and Matt Lieber.
